Armed Forces Sunday
Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion has once again joined with Horsham District Council to organise Horsham Armed Forces Sunday which will take place between 10.30am and 2pm on Sunday 30th June in and around the Carfax, Horsham Town Centre.
The event will feature static displays of historic military vehicles, thanks to the organisers of the Capel Military Vehicle Show which takes place on the 6th and 7th July, a band parade followed by a ceremony, displays by local cadets from the Army, Navy and Air Force as well as the Royal Naval Association and Horsham Community Responders. The Royal British Legion Band will be providing further musical entertainment on the bandstand.
At 11.15am there will be a parade of Royal British Legion Standards, Veterans and local cadets led by the Surrey and Sussex Drum and Bugle Corps and will march from East Street into the Carfax where there will be the ceremony at the War Memorial with addresses by Horsham District Councillor, Peter Burgess and Royal British Legion Chairman, Nigel Caplin. Shortly after, SSDB Corps will perform in front of the War Memorial. The Carfax and East Street will be closed to traffic from 7am to 5pm to facilitate this and the display of military vehicles. The event will close with the flag lowering ceremony at 2pm. (All subject to confirmation and weather conditions)
The event will also highlight the role and work of Royal British Legion in supporting the ex-Armed Forces community and their families, with members of the Horsham Branch on hand to answer any questions.

About the Capel Military Vehicle Show:
The Capel Military Vehicle Show which Takes place at Aldhurst Farm, Temple Lane, Capel, Surrey RH5 5 HJ on the 6 and 7 July 2019 and features an array of military vehicles, from the Second World War until the modern day.
Enjoy vehicle displays, battle re-enactments, music, plus many trade stands and stalls. This year they have over 201 Vehicle entries, including a Humvee and the VT34 Armoured Recovery vehicle, RAF Chinook Helicopter (subject to operational commitments), Lynx Helicopter, Wasp Helicopter, and Jet Ranger Helicopter for Public flights, Military Vehicles in action, Tank Firing and Car Crushing, American, German, Russian and British Battle Re-enactments, Mini Tank Driving, Family Entertainment, Catering, 4X4 Military Auto Jumble, Fire Brigade Display, Period Music and Dancing.
There is also lots of children’s entertainments including Inflatables, Mini Tanks, Climbing Walls, Archery, Laser Quest and Airsoft ranges. A comprehensive array of local catering stands, fresh coffee, snack and soft drinks bar and of course ice cream and a licensed bar.
There is also a rare chance for you to take to the air in your own helicopter courtesy of Turwestons, who for a very reasonable fee will fly you round the local area and give you a bird’s eye view of the show.
